Materials, Stories, and Other Objects 2022
Petra Stellam Full runway video. Materials, Stories, and Other Objects 2022 runway was presented at the Celebration Gardens in Houston during the sunset of July 15th. The runway was set with vintage lamps surrounding the perimeter of the runway where the models walked. The instrumental and angelic sounds of the guitarist being played live as the models walked. The runway collection consisted of 12 Looks all of which were dresses worn by female models. The looks were all diverse in their own sense having not much relevance to one another however all sharing the beautiful levels of artisanal couture. The purpose was to go against the idea that a runway show needs to be cohesive or show consistency, as the garments opposed from that idea having there each individual story. Each garment housing different materials and fabrics to create a certain look and to have various textures. The different materials used for the garments varied from unconventional materials like furniture rope, plastic grocery bags, pattern drafting paper, as well as the traditional fabric. A majority of the models carried with them, objects that helped compliment each dress. A belt that was made from pattern paper, a handbag made from shiny faux fur, and a handful of zippers. The objects are a complimentary piece that helped solidify or further understand the story of the garment. In the end, all of the “materials”, constructed the beautiful “stories”, being held together by the “other objects”, helped make this second full collection showing a success. Petra Stellam is on a fast track to keep the fashion cultures attention and hold an edge to what may be next in Houston.
